Fiber2:

Maude Kerns Gallery

The Maude Kerns presents “Fiber2,” featuring the work of two fiber arts groups, “High Fiber Diet” and “Loosely Bound.”

“High Fiber Diet” includes 14 artists from the Willamette Valley and Southern Washington who have been exhibiting together for nearly 20 years. In their “Bird’s Eye View” series, each artist interprets with fabric what a bird sees as it soars over the earth or sits on its perch. Corvallis-based “Loosely Bound” includes 11 fiber artists who also work on group projects, including “The Whisper Challenge,” a visual variant of the telephone game where an original photograph inspires a quilt, which inspires another quilter, and so on.

The exhibited artists demonstrate the variety of style and expression possible with the medium of fiber. Individual pieces are woven, quilted, printed and painted upon, hand-dyed and appliquéd – even coated with encaustic.
