“Loosely Bound” chose the theme of Bound by Color in 2009 to create works on 24-inch square canvases.
Each member of the group received a color name from a random drawing. Apart from the color and the size, there were no other guidelines for the work – each artist created a piece inspired by the selected color.
We were surprised and delighted to learn that Color is a subjective concept… like beauty, it is often in the eye of the beholder. The paint chips beside each work demonstrate the original color inspiration: black, white, blue-green, orange, red-orange, purple, yellow-green, blue, yellow, green, and red.
These works were originally displayed during Quilt County 2009 in the OSU Memorial Union Concourse Gallery. Like many of our group projects, Bound by Color has been shown in several different venues. The last "curtain call" for the show is in May, 2001 in Ashland. Check it out! |
